Key ideas
- Symmetry is broken by a timely d4 (or …d5) break, or by one side deviating with an early Nc3/…Nc6 setup.
- The Hedgehog — a compact Black setup with pawns on a6, b6, d6, e6 — is a key structure to know.
- Understanding the standard breaks and piece placements matters far more than memorising moves.
