Terms of use
Last updated 2026-07-19
Using ChessRanger means agreeing to these terms. They are short on purpose; the plain-English meaning is the intended meaning.
Coaching, not guarantees
ChessRanger teaches chess. The coach's explanations, the engine's evaluations, the puzzle and opening content, and your ratings here are all training tools: useful, and sometimes wrong. An engine evaluation is a search result at a fixed depth, not a proof; a rating here reflects play against our opponents and puzzles, and is not a FIDE, Lichess or Chess.com rating. We make no promise about how much your strength will improve, or how quickly.
Accuracy
We check the chess content — every opening line, famous game, puzzle and drill is validated against a chess engine before it ships — and we correct errors when we find them. Even so, annotations and explanations are written by people and models and can be mistaken. The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the last twelve months.
Fair use
Personal, non-commercial use is welcome, including exporting your own games and repertoire. Scraping the site wholesale, reselling the content, or passing ChessRanger material off as your own is not.
Accounts and termination
You can delete your account at any time and we will remove your personal data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. If a term is unenforceable the rest still stand, and these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
