Notice the shape: beating the same opponents pays a little less each time as your rating rises above theirs, and losses cost more. A streak doesn't compound forever — it bends back toward the level your results actually justify.
Straight answers
Why does a win streak flatten out?
Because each win lifts you above your opponents, so the formula expects the next win more and pays less for it. Rating is self-correcting: it converges on the level your score rate justifies rather than climbing forever.
Does the order of results matter?
Slightly. Because the change depends on your current rating, an early win (from a lower rating) is worth a touch more than the same win later. Over a run the effect is small, but the curve shows it.
